Apply the included JavaScript ES2026 baseline to application code and the Node.js 22 baseline to Node-based tooling. Native app JavaScript runs in the platform WebView; Node.js permissions do not constrain the native bridge. These rules cover Capacitor 7 and compatible version 7 plugins where installed, and were checked against Capacitor 7.6.9.
Release line and platform requirements
- Native fixes reach users only in rebuilt binaries: update the native Capacitor packages, run
npx cap sync, rebuild, and redistribute the app. A JavaScript-only or live update can't change the native runtime, so installed builds keep their native flaws until users take the new binary. - On native runtimes 7.0.0 through 7.6.8, which predate the 7.6.9 fix for remote content loaded at the app origin through the internal HTTP proxy path, register a plugin whose
shouldOverrideLoadreturnstruefor any URL whose path starts with/_capacitor_http_interceptor_, on both Android and iOS. DisablingCapacitorHttpdoesn't close that path on those releases. - Pin
@capacitor/core,@capacitor/cli,@capacitor/android, and@capacitor/iosto a consistent reviewed patch. Verify any resolvedcom.capacitorjs:coreandcapacitor-swift-pmdependencies too. Select compatible, reviewed 7.x official plugins independently; their patch numbers need not match core. - Plan migration to an actively supported Capacitor major before version 7 extended support ends on 2026-12-08; do not assume it has active-maintenance coverage.
- Run the CLI and build scripts on the included, maintained Node.js 22
